A Custom Home and Renovations for the Kreikemeier’s
It happens. We have kids and need a larger house to help accommodate all of the action. But once the kids move out, we want to downsize. What happens when you downsize just a little too much? Like Jean and Jim Kreikemeier, you call the professionals at Associates in Building + Design!
In 2014, the Kreikemeier’s began the construction of their current home. The exterior of the home was built with neutral colors and stone, creating a gorgeous combination with contrast. The entry of the home is simple and classic with modern fixtures. Throughout the home, simplicity reigns, but there are also features that are convenient with modern luxuries. A spacious three-car garage, screened-in porch, and a contemporary home office paired with the laundry room are all aspects of this home that make it customized and cozy.
When remodeling the home, ABD added a living room where the rear patio once sat along with another bathroom in the back. Additionally, the team created an indoor stairway with access to the garage and the room created above the garage was converted into a man-cave. The most challenging part of this project was providing heating and cooling to the rooms on its own split system. The new living room is also regulated in part with radiant heat on the tile floor.
In March 2018, the latest project at the Kreikemeier’s home began. The couple decided to create a larger dining space by having a wall removed between the dining space and an unoccupied piano room. Jean also requested that a pot-filler be very carefully added to the travertine backsplash. “Only a few tiles were replaced, and the plumber and tile subs did amazing on a hard-to-match area,” stated Heather Schreiner, General Manager and Interior Designer with ABD.
“The ABD team was two weeks in and out, just like Bob said,” exclaimed Jean Kreikemeier. “Everything looks great! The crew was always punctual, communicative, courteous and respectful of our home. And the place was always clean! No dust like I expected.”
The Kreikemeier house was built and renovated a couple of times to get things just right for our clients. Some companies may find that as a hardship, but we love the fact that this couple kept coming back to us for additional work! “You have a “class act” group of staff members and subs,” said Jean. “Congrats on a job well done! It’s always a pleasure working with our ‘friends’ at ABD!”
