Ken, our architectural designer, has been building since he was 13 years old. After spending enough time at his friend’s family-owned cabinet shop, he was eventually put to work. He has been building ever since. When Ken walked through the doors at Associates in Businarchitectural designeress + Design six months ago, we knew it was a no brainer to make him our architectural designer. With 39 years of experience, there is no one better for the job!

At ABD, Ken is responsible for everything related to architectural design. He plans all our houses and is constantly found over a drawing board coming up with new ideas. When you come to the professionals at ABD for your custom home needs, Ken is the genius behind your designs, and there is no one better suited for the job!

“I stay motivated because of the people,” Ken said in reference to how he has been able to stay inspired for almost four decades in the business. “Basically, I get to do what I love and when I get to see the finished project, it’s the neatest thing. Not only have I designed it, but I’ve also built it and there it is for someone to enjoy.”

Every job has its challenges, but for Ken, most things come naturally. After working in all parts of the industry, Ken knows the ins and outs of the job. One aspect of the career that is always changing however, is the trends. It is important to stay up-to-date with all the latest design trends, because this industry is always evolving. Making sure to keep on top of the ever-changing business keeps Ken constantly learning and improving at building design. When you choose to build with ABD, you can rest assured the home will be complete with the latest and greatest in design and construction.

One of the most rewarding parts of the job for Ken is the client’s reaction. “Seeing the look on the client’s face when they walk through the door and see what we did is the best,” said Ken. “Watching them get excited seeing their home for the first time is great.”

Over the years, Ken has learned a lot about the industry and all its surrounding aspects. One thing that has always stuck with him is the true reason for doing his job. Ken believes the work he does changes lives. This was proven in his philanthropic work after major natural disasters, including Hurricane Katrina.

Ken worked with a team to restore homes and lives in Mississippi. This was one of the many occurrences that taught Ken it is what is done behind closed doors that matters. He believes in doing good, honest work for the benefit of others and not for personal achievement. It’s these qualities that make us positive Ken is right for the job of helping our clients build their dream home.

“What we do today is going to be here for generations. We take care of people in a unique manor and we make people’s dreams become reality,” said Ken. “It’s the things you do behind closed doors that make the real difference.”

When our architectural designer  Ken isn’t designing homes for our many clients, he is working on his own home, taking walks, going to the gym and just finding some time to relax.
