From Nail Design to Home Design: Introducing Kristine Desser, Interior Designer
Breaking into the interior design industry is not easy to do and requires a unique set of skills and education in order to succeed. After owning and operating a nail salon business for most of her adult life, Interior Designer Kristine Desser chose to take the next step in her career. As a businesswoman, she knew her creativity and passion for making others happy had to be taken to a new level.
With a business education received in Vancouver, British Columbia and a degree from Front Range Community College, Kristine comes to ABD with the dedication to helping clients find the right design and functionality for their homes. Kristy specializes in kitchen and bath design, but has participated in home staging and construction design.
Every day in the design world is different, with Kristine’s “typical day” consists of meeting with clients, brainstorming design plans and drawings, going on site to see implemented designs and of course, plenty of computer work. In addition to the creative aspects of her job, there are also a lot of tasks such as pricing and ordering material, coordinating and scheduling and researching the latest design trends and products.
Kristine’s background as a business owner and nail designer is reflected in her ability to truly transform something dull into a masterpiece of excitement. She describes her favorite aspect of the job as putting the design together and seeing it come alive. However, she states that making the client happy is the best reward of all.
It takes a special set of skills to become a designer: it’s important to be organized, attentive to detail and have the ability to see a design and build it. In addition, Kristine’s constant interaction with the public has helped polish her people, coordination and communication skills. The client is heavily involved throughout the process, which makes these skills important, as well as having an artistic eye and being a solution provided, which are her keys to success.
Originally from the east plains of Colorado, Kristine has deep roots in the Northern Colorado area after raising her three daughters here. In her spare time, she enjoys time with her husband and children. When she’s not multi-tasking at work, she can be found riding her horses and her Harley.
