Since beginning his career, Lead Carpenter Justin has always been passionate about building and enjoys the challenge of working in an ever-evolving industry. Prior to joining the Associates in Building and Design team a year ago, Justin served in the Marine Corps for four-and-a-half years before receiving his Associates Degree from Front Range Community College. After graduating, he started out his career in the building industry at a small carpentry company in Johnstown, Colorado before deciding he was ready for a change.

“I decided I needed more challenge in my life and wanted to work for a company that would provide me that challenge and also give me the chance to grow,” he states. “There was no better match then ABD.”

Justin, who considers himself a jack of all trades, spends his workdays doing a little of everything. While his primary job responsibility is assisting project managers, he is also responsible for filling in for the project manager at the job site in their absence, being knowledgeable about what needs to be done and doing physical work at the jobsite.

Working as a lead carpenter comes with its challenges. For Justin, learning and perfecting new skills has been the most challenging aspect of his career, but also what keeps his job interesting and engaging. No matter what challenges he faces on the job, Justin knows he has a family in his ABD team and that he can always count on them for support.

“It is hard to find a company where everyone has your back,” says Justin. “At ABD, I have no doubt that every single person at the company has my best interest in mind and will do everything in their power to help me succeed.”

For Justin, the most rewarding aspect of his job is seeing a happy client. After putting in hours upon hours of work building a home, there is no better feeling than unveiling a client’s home and seeing the smile of amazement and appreciation on their face.

“I find a lot of satisfaction in finishing a project and being able to see the look on a client’s face when they see what was once a dream turned in to a reality,” says Justin.

When Justin isn’t assisting project managers and managing job sites, he can usually be found in the mountains with his girlfriend. The two of them are avid hikers and they enjoys spending their weekends there with their two dogs.
