Shaw MarketOur team at ABD strives to apply innovation and creativity to every project, big or small, from the most complex design and renovation to the simplest repair. Clients come to us to build a custom home in Fort Collins or do a major renovation in order to create a space that is truly personal, which means we have to stay up-to-date on emerging trends and products.

Our General Manager and Interior Designer, Heather Schreiner was invited by Shaw to attend the 2019 Shaw Market in California. While at the market, she was introduced to brand new products, colors and designs. From hardwood and laminate to tile and carpet, today’s flooring choices are extensive. Luckily, Heather came back with some amazing options for our clients!

REPEL Hardwood and Laminate Flooring

Water-resistant flooring designed to repel splashes and spills is coming in hot for 2019! “This is a really cool veneered product with a waterproof core that our clients are going to love,” exclaims Schreiner. Shaw has released new features for both REPEL Hardwood and REPEL Laminate.

Building upon Shaw Floors’ industry-leading REPEL water-resistance technology, REPEL Hardwood features a protective barrier on top of the plank that keeps spills and liquids on the floor’s surface, minimizing the chance for any moisture to seep into the plank. New REPEL Hardwood include Relic and Landmark Mixed Width, incorporating the most popular colors from the EPIC Extreme Nature products.

High-quality laminate flooring looks and feels like real Shaw Marketwood and comes in even more color and texture choices than hardwood, and newer options convincingly mimic the look of stone or brick. A barrier of REPEL water-resistance technology is applied to the sides of each plank and is activated when it comes in contact with moisture, shielding the floor from damage. This gives homeowners plenty of flexibility to find exactly the look that works best for them.

Shaw manufactures their flooring in the USA and states that their products have two distinct advantages over their competitors: its product is simple to install and ultra-easy to maintain. They also mention on their website that their laminate flooring can lie directly on any flooring besides carpet.

Additional Colors for Luxury Vinyl Planks and Tiles

Shaw is one of the leading manufacturers of vinyl flooring, so when they introduce new products, remodelers and home builders should be the first to know! Shaw currently offers several different collections of luxury vinyl plank and tile flooring, and each includes a range of colors and/or effects, such as simulated wood for LVP, and stone or ceramic tile for LVT (luxury vinyl tile). The flooring company is continually changing its lines, whether it’s a brand new product or an existing line simple rebranded.  For 2019, Shaw has introduced additional colors for luxury vinyl planks and patterns incorporated in luxury vinyl tiles.

Shaw MarketCarpet Options

Although LVT, laminate and hardwood flooring has grown in popularity over the last few decades, carpet is still an important part of many homes. Carpet provides a feeling of warmth and coziness in a range of colors and fabrics. In addition, it helps minimize noise, which makes it perfect for second-floor rooms, hallways, and kids’ play areas. Shaw’s 2019 color of the year is a full palette infused with dusty softness known as Whisper. Shaw’s Soft Shades Collection offers a rich grey undertone in many of the colors, which can pair perfectly with the color of the year palette. “Gray is quickly becoming the new go-to neutral for flooring,” says Schreiner. “New carpet patterns offered by Shaw offers a lot of gray hues mixed together; very appealing!”

If incorporating carpet in certain areas of a custom home, selecting a manufacturer like Shaw ensures that product is extremely high-quality with well-wearing materials. The new color patterns for 2019 are sure to make any home look sophisticated and stylish. The popular gray can be paired with bright, accent colors or matched with soothing blues and greens!
