Welcome Design and Administrative Assistant, Ally Layman

Ally LaymanFrom following designers like Joanna Gaines and Nate Berkus to assisting team members and incorporating décor styles like Boho and Scandinavian, our new design and administrative assistant, Ally Layman has a true passion for creativity and interior design. “I love seeing dreams come true,” she states, “Clients plan remodeling projects and custom home designs for years. It’s amazing bringing their visualization and dreams to reality.”

Ally was born and raised in Fort Collins and recently moved back after attending college at UCCS in Colorado Springs and living in Denver for nine years. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Communications and a minor in Visual Arts. She has been with our team since September 2018, “I have always been very interested in Interior Design and when I moved back to Fort Collins, I researched companies and ABD caught my eye because it’s a family-owned company and the work they do is beyond amazing,” Ally explains.

As a Design Administrative Assistant at ABD, Ally is responsible for assisting and supporting the design team with all tasks necessary to achieve the project at hand. “I try to keep myself open to whoever needs assistance that day,” she states. “I have a couple of different hats that I wear and a variety of tasks that I am responsible for in all departments of the company. One minute I could be helping with accounting tasks, and the next I could be part of the design process.” She continues, “I love that no day is the same as the one before. I love getting to see so many different aspects of the company and our projects.”

When our ABD team decided to hire a new design and administrative assistant, we were looking for someone who was driven, creative, worked well in a collaborative team environment, and was able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and assignments against deadlines. Ally exceeds all those skills and more! With a focus on detail and organization, she takes initiative to provide a solutions-based approach to all tasks. “My specialty is being as helpful as I can, keeping everything that is in my control moving and up to speed so that my team can keep doing what they need to do,” states Ally. “I am very organized and creative, and the two of those together make me a better teammate both on the design side as well as the administrative side.”

When you have big dreams and a flair for creativity, a career in interior design can be very rewarding. For Ally, the most rewarding part of her job is “working with a great team and getting to be part of this world.” The most challenging aspect she has faced is learning the terminology and getting a grasp on the process from start to finish. “Is it cheesy for me to say that working with ABD is a dream come true,” she beams. “For so long, I’ve wanted to be in this industry, but I didn’t have the extensive education or background that many companies require. ABD has given me the chance of a lifetime to be part of this industry and the opportunity to use my creative side.”

When Ally isn’t working, she is either spending time with friends and family or her kitten. She loves hiking Colorado, watching hours of Fixer Upper, and going on adventures with her friends and her camera.
